Protective Behaviours

Since January, the children have been learning more about the rights of the child. There are two main themes: we all have the right to feel safe all the time and we can talk with someone about anything, even if it feels awful or small. Protective Behaviours is a practical approach to personal safety that encourages personal empowerment. The aim of the approach is to help children to recognise and trust their intuitive feelings and develop self-protection strategies. Sharing this with children will support them to develop lifelong skills of assertiveness, self-confidence, problem solving, communication, resilience and help seeking.
